How to Buy Claude with Crypto (Step-by-Step Guide)
Anthropic does not accept cryptocurrency directly. The practical route is an official Claude gift subscription bought on your behalf and paid for in crypto. Here is exactly how that works.
Can you pay Anthropic in crypto?
No. Anthropic bills Claude Pro and Claude Max through card and standard app-store payments. There is no Bitcoin, USDT, or other cryptocurrency option at checkout, and no published plan to add one.
What Anthropic does support is gift subscriptions. A gift is a redeemable link that applies a paid plan to an eligible Claude account. Anyone can buy a gift and give the link to anyone else. That is the mechanism that makes paying with crypto possible.
How buying Claude with crypto actually works
- Pick your plan and duration. Claude Pro, Max 5x, or Max 20x, from one to twelve months.
- Choose your cryptocurrency and network. The asset and network must match exactly, because tokens with the same ticker exist on incompatible chains.
- Send the exact amount shown to the deposit address generated for your order. A QR code is provided so you do not have to copy an address by hand.
- Wait for on-chain confirmation. Timing depends on the network you chose, not on us.
- Collect your gift link from your private order page and redeem it on your Claude account.
Which cryptocurrency should you use?
Every supported asset works, but they are not equally pleasant to use. If you want the boring, reliable answer, send USDT or USDC on Tron or Solana. They are stablecoins, so the amount cannot drift while the transaction confirms, and the network fee is small enough to ignore.
Solana, Litecoin, and Dogecoin are the next best thing: fast, cheap, and rarely congested. Bitcoin works and everyone has it, but during busy periods you may wait longer and pay more in fees than the plan is worth on a short duration.
Ethereum mainnet is the one to think twice about. Gas can genuinely cost more than a month of Pro. If Ethereum is what you hold, send it over Arbitrum or another supported layer 2 instead. And if privacy is the reason you are here at all, Monero is supported.
Things that go wrong, and how to avoid them
Almost every failed crypto payment comes down to the same four mistakes, and all of them are avoidable.
The wrong network. This is the big one. USDT sent over Ethereum to a Tron address does not arrive, and no one can pull it back. The network shown on your order is not a suggestion, it is the only one that works.
A missing memo or destination tag. Some chains need one to route the payment to the right place. If your order shows a memo field, it is as important as the address itself.
The wrong amount. Send the exact figure displayed. The usual culprit is an exchange that quietly deducts its withdrawal fee from the amount you asked to send, so the payment lands short.
Paying late. Your quote is held for about 2 hours, because that is how long the exchange rate behind it can be locked. If a payment does land after the timer, your funds are not lost and never were: it reaches an account we control either way, drops out of the automatic flow, and a person matches it to your order by hand, which simply takes longer than the usual few hours.
Redeeming the gift
Open the delivered link in a browser, sign in to the Claude account that should receive the plan, and follow Anthropic's confirmation steps. Anthropic's current guidance states that gifts expire 365 days after purchase and that multiple gifts cannot be redeemed simultaneously. If you have an active subscription bought through iOS or Android, Anthropic currently requires you to wait until it ends before redeeming.
