Every Way to Pay for a Claude Subscription, Compared

Anthropic accepts fewer payment methods than most people expect. This is the full list, what each one actually requires, and the one route that works without a card.

What Anthropic accepts directly

Card payment on claude.ai. The standard route. It needs a card the processor will accept for a recurring international charge, and a billing address that verifies. Credit cards clear far more reliably than debit or prepaid ones.

The Apple App Store and Google Play. Subscribing inside the mobile app bills through the store instead, using whatever payment method your store account already has. This is genuinely useful if your card works for app purchases but not for web subscriptions, and it is worth trying before concluding you cannot pay.

Team and enterprise billing. Invoiced arrangements exist for organisations. They are not a route for one person buying one plan.

That is the entire list. There is no PayPal option, no bank transfer for individual plans, and no cryptocurrency option.

Where gift subscriptions come in

Anthropic sells gift subscriptions: a purchaser buys a plan and receives a redeemable claude.ai link, which anyone with an eligible account can apply to their own. The buyer and the recipient do not have to be the same person. That is a feature Anthropic built deliberately, and it is the mechanism this service uses.

You pay in the cryptocurrency of your choice, we buy an official gift through Anthropic's normal checkout, and the genuine claude.ai link appears on your private order page. You redeem it on your own account. Afterwards your relationship is with Anthropic directly and looks exactly like any other subscription, because that is what it is.

How the options actually compare

Cost. Paying Anthropic by card is the cheapest, because you pay list price and nothing else. Any resale route sits above retail, since an honest reseller pays full price and carries conversion costs on top. If your card works, use your card. This is worth saying plainly even though it sends business away.

Availability. The crypto route needs no card, no billing address, and no account with us. That is its entire advantage, and it only matters if the direct routes have failed for you.

Renewal. A card subscription renews until cancelled. A gift does not renew at all: it applies a fixed term and then stops. Some people prefer that, and it is the reason a few buyers use this route even when their card works fine.

Speed. A card is instant. A crypto order waits for the transfer to confirm on the network you chose, then for a person to buy the gift. Many orders complete within a few hours.

What no payment method changes

Anthropic's account rules, regional availability, and terms apply the same way regardless of how a plan was paid for. A gift link is a payment instrument, not an access key, and it cannot grant something Anthropic does not otherwise allow. Our terms require that you are not ordering from a comprehensively sanctioned jurisdiction or as a restricted party.

If the crypto route is the one that fits, current prices in every supported coin are published, and the step by step guide covers the process end to end.
