How Much Does Claude Cost? Pro and Max Prices Explained
Anthropic sets the price of the plan. Everything a reseller adds on top should be visible and explainable, and if it is not, that is the thing to be suspicious of.
What Anthropic charges
Claude Pro is the entry paid plan. Max is sold in two usage tiers, 5x and 20x, priced accordingly. Anthropic publishes current pricing on its own site and changes it from time to time, so treat that as the authority rather than any figure quoted by a third party, including us.
Claude Code is included with Pro and both Max tiers. It is not a separate purchase, which is worth knowing before anyone sells you a "Claude Code plan" as a distinct product.
What a crypto purchase adds
Anthropic does not take cryptocurrency, so paying in crypto means someone buys an official gift subscription through normal channels on your behalf. That route has three parts, and on this site all three are shown separately before you create an order:
The Anthropic price. Passed through at cost. We do not mark this up.
A service markup. The only part we keep. It covers exchange fees and conversion spread, the price risk carried between your transfer arriving and the gift being bought, and the cost of running and supporting the service. Longer durations carry a lower relative markup.
The three lines always add up to the total you are quoted, and the total is what you send. Nothing is charged afterwards, because there is no account and no stored payment method.
Why a very cheap listing is a warning sign
This is the most useful thing on this page, so it is worth stating plainly. Anyone reselling Claude honestly pays full Anthropic retail plus conversion costs. That sets a hard floor. A legitimate price is always somewhat above Anthropic's own, never below it.
So a listing at half of retail is not a better deal, it is a different product. In practice it means one of the following:
Shared account credentials rather than a gift. These get shut down without warning, usually mid-conversation, and you have no recourse because the arrangement broke Anthropic's terms from the start.
A stolen or fraudulently purchased gift, which gets reversed when the underlying payment is charged back, taking your subscription with it.
Nothing at all. An irreversible crypto payment to a seller who stops replying.
"Lifetime" Claude plans belong in the same category. Anthropic does not sell one, so nobody can resell one.
Ways to actually pay less
Buy a longer duration. The relative markup falls as the term gets longer, so twelve months in one gift beats twelve monthly gifts.
Pick the right tier. Paying for Max 20x when Pro covers your usage is the most expensive mistake available. Our plan comparison walks through where the real line is.
Choose a cheap network. Ethereum mainnet gas can cost more than a month of Pro. USDT or USDC on Tron or Solana keeps the fee to a rounding error.
